A long time fascination and interest in technology's been the drive that’s led me into what's become one of my favorite pastimes, digital photography.

I messed around with film on occasion several years ago but really picked up an interest when bitten by the photo bug in the late '90's. I'm finding Canon hardware very impressive and expensive (for the real quality stuff). It's looking as if it’s all about optics for the most part; a link of the chain that’s worth the greatest investment... lenses. Love the L’s. On my wish list along with an Enzo Ferrari is a 1D Mark IV for sports and wildlife shots although the 50 and 40D's I shot with recently have a lot going for them. The greatest gear’s nothing without composition… a subjective topic for sure and one I love to explore.

There’s so much out there, it's a good time to be alive!

Update: As of late 2009...

I’d left Flickr for awhile, one main reason being its ‘openness’ with respect to comments, favoriting and other forms of interacting with posted content. Once again, I’m running across some less than acceptable comments made in response to pictures of friends, models, etc. Got a non-sexual, G-rated comment, hopefully one with a dash of intelligence… go for it. If not OR if a link to your Flickr profile leads to some disgusting, repulsive, degenerative images…you will be blocked.

-And yeah, it’s personal

Update as of 2012:

Although I enjoy shooting aviation, motor sports and other gear-demanding genres; ones that would seem to demand the finest of camera bodies and lens combos (for the finest results) like the Canon 1Dx paired with a 300 f/2.8L prime as an example, I went another direction.

Recently moved to the 5D Mark III and am finding its AF and overall image capture capability, particularly with respect to color accuracy, is sooooo freaking awesome. Having shot with the 50D for several years (very satisfied, overall!), it's amazing how far digital capture technologies advanced in so little time. Have yet to shoot sporting events with the 5D but I've got a very healthy suspicion it can hold its own, even with the pro bodies like the 1DX or the Nikon D4, at least in a slower paced environment such as street portraiture and photography... a favorite of mine! And oh yeah, moved to a 2nd generation 70-200 f2.8L, this one with IS. Pleasing bokeh with spot-on focus, limited CA, flare and the like, combined with very acceptable corner sharpness, even on my new full-frame... couldn't be happier!
