I am a Photographer and Anthropologist, and I am interested in the visualization of cultural contexts. I am particularly attracted by sacred spaces, modernity and its inbetween, liminal contexts, and interested in exploring other cultural context in relation to modernity. I currently live in South Asia (Lahore, Pakistan) to which relates a large part of my photography as well as my empirical work.

I might add that while much of my work is executed in alternative photographic techniques which I find very suitable for the personal vision I am after, I currently started some work with a conventional DSLR - the reason is, I found myself wishing to print in color again (I hesitate to call it natural, so let's say linear color), and here in Pakistan color roll films, let alone sheet films, have become prohibitively difficult to process. Also, however, I must admit that the camera I use is able to deliver absolutely first-rate quality, both regarding sharpness and the eventual ability to print large, and, as far as I can say so far, also tonality.

I will certainly continue to use analog, particularly my 8x10" equipment, and use monochrome film, but the pictures I uploaded recently, exposed during 3 weeks of German summer, will be followed by images taken here, in Lahore.

Eventually I will want to print them with alternative methods in 4 colors, but that is somewhat in the future, if alone for financial reasons (I will need a large printer and, for oil transfer, a printing press).

Still, whether you note it or not, the pictures I have uploaded and will upload are carefully developed such as my craft allows; here also I am looking for a personal, subjective perspective rather than what you might call "objective" colors or tonality.
