... I even used to be a professional photographer (meaning that I earned some money taking pictures but not doing it full time) and had silver nitrate crystals running in my blood stream until 10 years ago, when a turn in my life made me "give up" photography because I went back to Africa, to live and work in countries at war, and carrying a camera around was neither too "healthy" nor practical.

Now, after recently bumping into some old pictures taken and printed by me, I'm letting photography return to my life, I just take a camera and wonder around in London, where I live now, and let that strange and wonderful impulse that makes all photographers press the button act upon my viewer and finger. Nothing more, without any pretensions to whatsoever. I'm just going to let the pictures take me.

This is a shy return, using bits and bytes instead of film and paper.

I would like to dedicate this site and this return to the magical world of photography to Alexandra Kr.

"They are days when simply seeing feels like happiness itself...You feel so rich, the elation seems almost excessive and you want to share it."

Robert Doisneau

“Light makes photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography.”

George Eastman

"The single most important component of a camera is the twelve inches behind it."

Ansel Adams

"A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know."

Diane Arbus

"There is only you and your camera. The limitations in your photography are in yourself, for what we see is what we are".

"There are two kinds of photographers: those who compose pictures and those who take them. The former work in studios. For the latter, the studio is the world…. For them, the ordinary doesn‘t exist: every thing in life is a source of nourishment."

"A picture is the expression of an impression. If the beautiful were not in us, how would we ever recognize it?"

"The best zoom lens is your legs."

Ernst Haas

... and the last but not the least::

"To take a photograph is to align the head, the eye and the heart."

Maestro Henri Cartier-Bresson

Before you leave us for a while Luis, I want to thank you for sharing your colourful world and letting us into your life here on flickr. Music, colour and wonderful images are all a reflection of you, your warmth and personality. I am so fortunate to have come across you after quite a long period of time, it was funny how we met, and then quite by accident discovered you again. I count myself fortunate to be able to take a look at your wonderful world. I hope if anyone is looking for the first time today that they will return again when you come back, and enjoy the richness of your artistic eye ... come back soon Luis, you will be missed. My best wishes ... Bev.
