Wat betekent fotografie voor mij ?

Eenvoudig: even de tijd stil leggen, een fractie van een seconde, dat zo voor eeuwig vastgelegd wordt.

Onbevooroordeeld naar de wereld kijken zoals door de ogen van een kind, die alles voor het eerst ontdekt. De voorbereiding medeplichtig laten spelen met het toeval.

Fotografie heeft de immense kracht om eenvoudige dingen te tonen in combinatie met de gekste dromen. Ze bevriest het verleden, om het heden te laten ontwaken, terwijl deze reeds tot het verleden hoort. Dit heden wil ik graveren, vastleggen tot herinnering, want het is reeds voorbij.

Ik wil de emotie van ons dagelijks banaal leven bloot leggen, mensen in tijdloze portretten gieten, de kracht hebben om de tijd stil te leggen, licht en schaduw te bespelen, om het ongeziene te laten ontwarren.

Niet alleen om wat het is, maar ook om wat het eens was.

What does photography mean to me?

Simple: to stop time for a moment, a fraction of a second, which is recorded forever.

To look at the world without prejudice, such as through the eyes of a child who discovers everything for the first time. Making the preparation complicit play with chance.

Photography has the immense power to show simple things in combination with the craziest dreams. It freezes the past, to awaken the present, while it already belongs to the past. I want to engrave this present, to capture it, because it is already over.

I want to expose the emotion of our daily banal life, cast people in timeless portraits, have the power to stop time, play light and shadow, to unravel the unseen.

Not only for what it is, but also for what it once was.
