I always tell myself I'm making personal work, but I realised this was an excuse for photographing introspectively. Rather than being explorative, I'd stick to good ol' square format and take close-up pictures of door handles with shallow depths of field. So I decided to open up, and try and make work about introverted themes such as loneliness and coming-of-age (things I've never quite been able to crack), but in a far more external and open way.
For the work I'm yet to make, I've decided I want it to actually be personal, in a way that is tangible. It will actually be about change this time, rather than just being the same in the face of change. And it will photographically tell something about me, other than the fact that I'm pretty quiet.
