A little about me:

I'm married with a gorgeous little girl and a brand new baby boy, and thought I'd put a few pictures up online, rather than clogging up my friends' email inboxes... but this flickr thing is addictive!

I love seeing what people can do with the most basic objects, or how they can convey the beauty of a scene so that you didn't "just have to be there."

I hope my photos appeal to people, amongst all the shots of my beautiful kids (and dogs) of course, and that my photos of Melbourne and surrounds encourage people to visit this amazing city.

Previously I've used a 2MP HP Photosmart (which would go through rechargable batteries so quickly), then a 4MP Kodak LS443, and then a 5MP Kodak DX7590, which was a great 'prosumer' camera for learning about camera settings like aperture and ISO. After these three I felt qualified to go and buy a Canon EOS400D (also known as a Canon Digital Rebel XTi) and I've been bombarding Flickr ever since! Recently I've upgraded my kit to a Canon 50d, and I don't know how I lived without 6.3fps burst mode!!

I also carry a SonyEricsson K850i phone, which has a 5MP camera in it which can take pretty good photos, just not at night.

My lenses are the Canon 24-105mm f/4 IS L USM, Canon 50mm f/1.4 USM, Sigma 18-200mm and a Sigma MacroEX 50mm f/2.8.

Steph also has a Canon Ixus 60 (SD600 overseas) which is brilliant, and now that I have my dSLR we'll still need the little Ixus for going out.

I've tried a few different photography 'trends', and I've posted some of my better efforts below:

Selective Colour:

Dietes, Selective Colour

HDR:

Southern Cross Station, Melbourne HDR

and Tilt-Shift:

Chinese Gardens - Tilt Shift

Just be wary of the Pentax Optio S50. Worst. Camera. Ever.

Now that you know about me, check out Steph's photos!
