A LITTLE ABOUT ME

I'm a mixed media textile artist based in St. Ives in Cornwall. My work is inspired by nature, the Cornish coastline, landscapes and cottages, St. Ives, seascapes, rock pools, beach finds, the colours, shapes and textures found in the harbours at St. Ives, watching the weather, skies and clouds. I also love walking in the countryside and photographing hedgerows

I explore a wide variety of processes including using heat tools, melting things, wax and encaustic, painting, printing, dyeing my own fabrics, embroidery and stitch, rust dyeing and erosion processes, natural and eco dyeing, silk paper making, paper clay, beading and making my own beads

I love photography and use techniques with focus and textures to create images with a timeless, nostalgic feel. I use my photography in my textile work and sketchbooks

One of my most favourite ways of exploring colour, shape and abstract design is through collages and mosaics. I like to use my images with text and little pieces of fabric, stitch, acrylics, watercolour and oil pastels with mica and gild

I've recently been having a break from social media for personal reasons but I hope to start sharing work again in 2020. If you wish, you can keep up with news, updates and latest ramblings here - Carolyn Saxby Textiles

I love textile art too. I can say you are doing a very good tribute to it. I want to celebrate here your creativity and you sensibility using such a different range of materials to make real art. Thank you to share.

Carolyn has a wonderful sense of color, composition and texture, and a nice-looking image. It will arrive well in her images, both photographs of her gorgeous textile creations. In addition, Carolyn is very nice and encouraging friend!
