There is something very unique about Shriya's photostream in the way that I can flip from the oldest of uploads to the newest, and their inherent magic never falters. It takes a different kind of photographer to pull this off, and I can count the number I have met on the fingers of one hand. Shriya's photostream succeeds in filling me with longing - for the places that are not where I am - but, at the same time, plants the smallest tendrills of dread deep into the membrane of my psyche. The kind of dread that bubbles just beneath the calm static of everyday life. Shriya's photostream is a chroniclization of uncommon kids and their fight against an early death by common sense. Each frame - dipped in analogue beauty and brushed in varying exceptionalities of animosity and mood - paints a picture of life in the middle of Amerika: young men and women caught in an ever-expanding sense of confusion and identity crisis. Each frame drops me into the moment, and I long so desperately to close my eyes and find myself standing there alongside; at the same time, I just can't shake off the fear of what I may find taking place on the other side of the glass. Shriya's genius lies in how he wraps the silent pitfalls of everyday surburban life in such a bitterly sweet backscape of beauty, and the implications are terrifying to behold.
