My mother is my greatest inspiration. She sewed our clothes, canned what she grew and got by on what she could. Now in her 70's, she has a longarm and whips out quilts like it's nobody's business. From her I learned all those things and more. I have been quilting for a few years, although I can't claim to have made many full size quilts. I like making small things that I can get done, stand back and admire or share with someone else. Picking out the fabrics and piecing is my favorite part of quilting.

Besides quilting and sewing, my interests include jewelry making, paper crafts, antiquing and thrifting (then repurposing the junk I find), reading and photography. My husband calls me a jack of all trades and a master of none. I guess I do dabble in too much, but can I help it if my interests are vast and varied? There is so much to do and so little time . . .

I work full time outside the home and have two boys who also have a busy agenda. So I've become a night owl just to get in a little quiet time to sew, read or try and finish one of my many unfinished projects.

Since I happened upon Flickr, I have caught the swap bug. With every swap, I learn something new and move out of my comfort zone.

Swapping Info:

I’m not real picky when it comes to fabric. I like solids, text, low volume, 30's floral and bright colors with small prints.

Right now I'm loving all the bright prints with text/low volume background fabric. Blue/green is my favorite combination.

Anything with hexagons, dresden plates and any kind of star catches my eye. If you look through my photos or favorites, you will find that I love paper piecing as well.

My dislike list includes batiks, novelty, animal or cartoon prints. I'm not much on pink unless it is used sparingly.

I love collecting vintage sewing notions and patterns, buttons and lace. I also have a small collection of vintage Pyrex that I actually use daily.

What's on my reading or watching list? Well some of my favorites are the Mitford, Miss Julia and Harry Potter series. I also read along with my boys to quiz them and have discussions. They have introduced me to some enjoyable reads. Then I never get tired of watching the Wizard of Oz, Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility and Harry Potter . . . . after all this time? Always.
