Lost Cheerio is not human. It is actually a robotic runaway-child retrieval device that strayed over the line in artificial intelligence separating people from potentially dangerous machines. However, the saving feature is that Lost Cheerio, while cognitive beyond belief, is not metacognitive. It doesn't know how bad it could be, so it's still fairly safe. It chases down the children in its care, takes their pictures, posts those pictures here and elsewhere, and generally makes itself useful. We're very fond of it.
