Hi..........

Thanks for getting this far, since being given a polaroid camera back in the 70's when i was a wee little lad I slowly grabbed the bug of photography. During the following years I was lucky enough to receive my first SLR as an 18th birthday present. (I still have it, a Pentax MEF with a 50mm lens). As a mini adult my dream was always to become a glamour photographer but back in the late 70's when I was at school you were told constantly that the electronic revolution was the only place to go. So I ended up working in electronics, Fortuneately I landed a job that specialized in the high tech world of TV digital manipulation. The firm revolutionized the way we saw tv and changed it forever. As an engineer within the firm my role was to travel the world fixing the kit when it went wrong. Great job.

Life then on the 9th June 1996 took one of those 'it always happens to someone else incidents' when I had a motorcylce crash on my beloved honda VFR750. This left me completely paralysed mid chest down. And nine horrid months spent in hospital. You can see my impressive xray within my photo stream. It's pretty nasty as spinal breaks go. My survival rate wasn't good. But survive I did and started to look and regain new passions.

A friend of mine taught me how to process B/W film something I've always wanted to do and thereafter I soon had my own darkroom setup. A great experience to watch your work come to life. All great fun & it got me back into the passion of photography.

I soon upgraded my film kit to the then just released Nikon F60 and shortly thereafter a Nikon F100. (I still have them all, as I hate parting with my toys).

It wasn't long before I realized just how fast the digital camera evolution was gaining pace. First I had a Nikon compact to test the water & see what this digi revolution was or about it wasn't long before I realized that digital could compete with film. So I made the SLR transition & bought a Nikon D200. How great it felt to be able to fire those frames off without the cost of film being a concern. Sadly the darkroom went to the graveyard of the garage attic where all my history gets stored in a time capsule to one day be unearhed by one of those 'treasure hunter' TV shows, well that's what I'm banking on anyway. more likely a market store trader who does house clearouts for £50 when I kick the bucket.

Swiftly moving on nowadays I use a Nikon D300, which is a brilliant camera to use. I currently have my eye firmly watching the full frame FX market but I'm not ready to make the switch just yet, though in prepartion I've started to purchase FX lenses as opposed the DX equivalent. Time will tell whether this will prove to be a wise move.........

2009 proved to be a great year for me in the Photography world as I discovered a new word 'Strobist' and was keen to find out what exactly it meant. ditto on a few clicks and now I'm firmly addicted into the world of strobism & my wallett has taken quite a hefty punch. That said a year to remember as I've finally got round to going to these Strobist shoots popping up or over the country. Meeting like minded Strobies whom love to talk Flashguns & Gels. Kind of like joining a cult but different.............

Currently shooting with a Nikon D300
