My photography journey started in October 2013 when I bought a Nikon D5100 (finished reading the manual in December 2014). :-)
In January 2015 my daughter shared with me a link to a Ben Long's video course in photography composition on lynda.com. I watched it and a few more courses and got hooked on photography. Got a Fuji -x100s, after watching David Hobby's The Traveling Photographer: Fundamentals - great course!, and started taking pictures of everything around. (Now I have Fuji X-T5, Fuji x100t, and Fuji XQ2 and love them all!)
Around the same time I found out that Flickr gives you 1Tb to upload pictures for free making it easy to share with friends and family, and that it is a great source of inspiration and learning. That was the beginning of my Flickr journey...
I "met" many very interesting people here on Flickr. Usually when I see a picture that interests me I try and look through pictures of this person starting from the very beginning. It gives me a sense of where they came from in their photography and what progress they are making, what direction they are moving in. If I like what I saw, I follow them and often it feels like I am following them in life. I can see what they see, where they go, what they think and feel... It's a great opportunity and I appreciate it. Thank you all for being here!
I like using my photography to create some material things, like photo prints, calendars, coasters, greeting cards, even small photo books. I have a decent photo printer, Canon Pixma Pro-100, that I use to print everything including calendars and photo books. By the way, I found a great photo paper source at Red River Paper. Great paper quality and variety at very reasonable prices. Highly recommend.
I keep going through my life with a camera always nearby if not in my hands already. When I travelled to India in December 2018 - January 2019, I created a photo blog "World Through Fuji Lens" to share my trip details with friends and family but, unfortunately, I don't have much time/patience/persistence to maintain it... Maybe some day I get back to it and stay with it :-)
P.S. Flickr shows the year I joined as 2006; actually, this is the year I created my yahoo email account. I find this misleading but it is what it is.
