I've lived in London for most of my life. I've always loved the London suburbs. Central London has some wonderful architecture, some of the finest galleries and museums in the world (many of them free), and great shops and restaurants etc. Despite this, I have alway been happiest walking through the seemingly endless suburbs; the places that most people never go, unless they live there or have friends there. A few years ago I started photographing these places. To me, none of them are ugly. I love them all equally, although some of them are more photogenic than others. Pretty much every time I go out I find a neighbourhood that is new to me. Each of these neighbourhoods will have a park or recreation ground, shops, pubs, churches, and its own special ethos. I had thought recently that perhaps it was time to find a new photo project but there is nothing else that would make me as happy. While I can still walk, this will remain an ongoing project.

It's a delight too to find that other people are doing the same thing in their own cities around the world and with the same obvious love for their city's suburbs.
