We are making an open platform game (like Super Mario Bros) in Southend. Southenders create the game together inspired by their experiences of the town. They will draw the backgrounds, players, obstacles and rewards. As they devise the rules of the game they decide how the different elements relate and shape the world.

Playing Southend has developed out of conversations with local people including those working with planning and regeneration. It aims to provide an imaginative way for different kinds of people to envision their own future communities- thinking about how what happens now shapes their future town and to explore how this might inform long term civic and urban planning.
