Outsider artist Liz Whelan is a lifelong Greenwich Village resident. A child of the 60's, she grew up in an environment that embraced the arts but which rejected artistic conventions. In 1992, advancing rheumatoid arthritis ended her career in the horse business. She worked as a college administrator until 2000 when she took disability retirement. Since then, she has focused on her art. She works at home and at the studios of Greenwich House Pottery in Greenwich Village.
