Have been doing cross-stitch embroidery since I was in middle school... must have been about 13 (my mum was making a tablecloth for the dining table and said to her that i wanted to try it --- 1st piece was a picture of pivet, lol).
Started doing patchwork when I watched a tv programme that featured patchwork, and started with hexagons, making a Grandmother's Flower Garden. Took it with me to college to finish (never did finish it as it got too big!!).
First completed quilt was given to a friend at work, who sadly had such a bad stroke that she never came back to work. I like to think that she enjoys using the quilt even though we have lost contact.
Favourite Colours = no particular colour, but I must admit that sapphire and amethyst are my favourite gemstone colours. Last two quilt tops have been in autumnal colours, but next one will be blue/green/red to reflect summer.
Most loathed colours = Olive and Sage!! Anything dull or drab!!
Fabrics I want
Kaffe Fassett shot cottons and spots,
Denyse Schmidt's Hope Valley
Makower Byzantium (I miss their Elizabethan & Bloomsbury ranges!!!)
Robert Kaufman Kona Cotton Solids
Any good batik fabrics
Styles I like
I will admit that I really like traditional designs, but will enjoy a more modern take on tradition.
I like some of the more arty types as long as they feature landscapes, nature etc. Abstract is not really my cup of tea!
