Chris Piazza
Drag to set position!
My name is Chris Piazza and I reside at the New Jersey Shore with my wife and three children. At home and traveling, I seek out beauty in the ordinary. As I focus on learning the basics of photography, I am not affraid to add a dash of experimentation to achieve my photographic vision.
As for my career, I went into the pharmaceutical sciences where I have been active for over 20 years. I continue to love the work that I do. However, I have continued to look for an outlet for my more creative side, giving more attention to my "Right Brain."
Thanks to my wife, I received my first DSLR in December 2006. In the time I have been using my new camera, I found that I am devouring any information I can find on photography starting with the Ansel Adams Photography Series. As for magazines, one that has particularly caught my attention is Black and White Photography, helping to deepen my appreciation of that genre. It was one issue that featured George Tice that especially seemed to inspire me most, partly due to his home in New Jersey, and largely due to the sheer power of his images.
During 2008, I had been submitting photos to a new travel magazine called Everywhere Magazine and which did a feature interviewing me on their blog. They've published quite a few of my photos in 3 of their 4 editions (put out by the same people that do JPG Magazine). Unfortunately, given the changing economy the publication did not survive, but it was a great group with which to work.a couple of my photos in their print magazine and I'm currently working on a piece about the Jersey Shore. I am most proud of a series they published on the Jersey Shore (including one of my articles) in the final edition.
As I continue to learn, I am appreciative for the freedom that Flickr provides. I look forward to learning from all of you.

And his photography, well...there are his truly wonderful fine art photographs, his abstract images - always worth taking some time over, his brilliant street photography and his skill of making the mundane look beautiful and interesting.
