I was a research scientist for over 30 years, studying sleep and circadian rhythms. I moved to a career in biotech/pharma as a medical science liaison in 2007. I retired in June 2017 so have now joined the ranks of those who find retired life seems even busier than working life, I think photography promotes development of the most fundamental skill in Science (and Life) - observation. It also enables me to visit that magical space where the intensity of focus puts me squarely in the present moment and utterly involved with the object of that focus.

I'm not a purist and alter my photos every chance I get. I figure the first alteration to the scene comes when I pull out my camera. The second one comes when I choose the settings. It's all down- or up-hill from there. I've posted roughly 1 image a day as a discipline since I joined Flickr in 2005. In 2020 I put together my personal website with some of the images I think are my best:

A photography's scientist, especially in "pieces and patterns" and in "fog and mist". A very special site.
