My photography like me tends to be eclectic. I like shooting many subjects so if you visit my photostream you will sometimes see abstracts, beautiful birds, butterflies, and flowers but just as likely ruin, rust, architecture, generic plants in interesting light, or bits and pieces of misc things that strike my fancy. I particularly like textures and the interplay of light and dark and where light reveals and highlights and makes the mundane special.
Digital cameras have changed my life. I've been a casual photographer off and on for years but I never really caught the bug with film. The immediacy of the feedback and the ability to fine tune an image at capture are really making a difference for me with digital. I primary shoot with a Pentax K10D these days and I can't say enough good things about this camera. I started the digital journey with a Kodak z740 whose manual mode and simple exposure tweaking keep it a trusted friend. I've also been given old HP 315 I like to play with. These days if I am without a camera I don't feel whole. Might need to seek help for that eventually... Until then I'm making my way through a backlog of digital photos and adding new stuff on flickr.
I'm still fairly new to flickr and have recently started contributing to pools and seeing and commenting on the work of others. I am seeking to improve my skills and welcome any feedback on my images. I'm finding an amazing number of great photos and talented photographers on flickr. I hope to learn from many of you. Sometimes I feel like I've captured what I saw but don't know if it comes through in the images. Constructive criticism is as welcome as positive feedback if you have the time which if you've made it this far in my profile you might ;)
I'm very much a geek and a bit of a tinkerer. Some of my images are taken with pro quality manual lenses picked up used and others with contrived lenses or an ancient digital camera someone gave me. Gaffer tape is, in my opinion, underrated as photography gear.
In short, expect some variety and thanks very much for stopping by.
