Hi there, thanks for looking! I've been using Flickr as a Pro member since 2005 - and still think its a super site.

My photos are not heavily computer edited except for the occasional cropping or straightening. I'm not interested in images which are heavily computer altered, to me the skill, talent and enjoyment is what you saw with your eye and what you managed to get the camera to do in the moment. The vast majority of my photos are straight from my camera. I also now have some family archive photos which I've scanned in from old photo albums.

My cameras have changed over the years, but with a limited budget I am currently using a Sony A6000 with various lenses, a Sony HX-80 (30x optical zoom in my pocket) and a Sony RX100M5 (nice photos, limited zoom), as well as a growing number of shots from my Google Pixel smartphone. I would like an RX-10 IV and an RX100M7 but don't have the budget for them just now.

There are some photographers who shine through the quality of their work. And there are others who are immensely knowledgeable about their subjects and use photography to illustrate this knowledge. Few have both qualities. Rob Lightbody is one of these few. He conveys the atmosphere of Glasgow and the Highlands. He has a keen eye for water, light and weather. Gifted with great patience, he is willing to wait for the right moment and the right light to get the perfect image. He often provides helpful additional background. As a friend and contact, he is generous and enthusiastic with his comments, and I have learnt a lot (or rather, copied a lot!) from him. No testimonial for Rob could be complete without mentioning his huge love and enthusiasm for the Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2). His are some of the best photographs taken during the ship's final years. These are treasures which will surely find their way into records and books. My favourite photo of 2008 is this one : www.flickr.com/ph... His 2009 photos are likely to turn me into a Mini enthusiast!
