Lieve is one of those rare photographers that compose deliberately from edge to edge of the frame. Her trademark square format landscapes are minimal at first glance, but upon closer inspection, minute details reveal themselves as if every grain of sand or dirt was considered before clicking the shutter. Most remarkable is her understanding of distance and space and her ability to place subjects in spaces of the frame seemingly made for them, whether a stone on a beach, an old truck in a yard or a young child in a field in Peru. There are many great photographers on Flickr but few with Lieve’s versatility and even fewer with her kindness and grace.
