I take photos
to remember people, places, and experiences
to revisit visually pleasing or striking or unusual sights, and let others see them, too
to share my life with family and friends (this was my primary reason for joining Flickr, back in '05)
to back-up my and my family's hand-produced artwork, and to share my own
to document papers and information of personal importance.
The oldest images are from old family albums, scanned in or re-photographed. Later ones (1950s+) were taken with a variety of cameras and then also scanned or re-photographed. Once digital cameras were cheap enough I started using those, and for as long as they have been available I have used iPhones. I have never been good at using "good" cameras.
Images of my family are for the most part visible only to my family.
I keep all the shots, even if they are similar to each other and lousy, as records of small chunks of space-time that were once real and present.
Peace.
