Gent of Leisure

While I have had an interest in railways since my boyhood in the 1950-60s, I have only owned a camera since 1981. The initial two decades of my railway photography were in the main focused on the UK network. Then, the 'standardization' on fleets of Units and Class 66 locos in the UK 'encouraged' me to look abroad for a greater variety of subjects. Visits to India, Switzerland and other parts of Europe have added considerably to my growing collection especially since my switch to digital cameras. With retirement from work and much of my UK material now over 30 years old, I am gradually finding the time to scan and edit a selection to also share. Much of my efforts are normally 'dismissed' by some as 'record' shots but they are in the main intended to illustrate the type of traction, traffic and infrastructure to be seen at a particular time rather than use a railway theme as the basis of an experimental or progessive type of image. I leave that aspect of photography and image manipulation to those better qualified than me.

I hope you enjoy a browse through my efforts over the decades with both film and digital cameras? If you have the time and the inclination, positive feedback is always welcomed.
