Perhaps in life, some things are predisposed. Such is the case of art in the life of Lexis. Growing up under the wing of an artist mother proved to be nothing less than a childhood filled with constant exposure to creativity and inspiration.

Falling in love with interesting paper scraps and gathering snippets from her travels, thrift stores and estate sales, has been Lexis’ obsession and main influence in her artwork. These bits and pieces end up collaged into inspirational works and turned into sweet prints that offer the viewer private moments in the midst of a hectic modern life.

When people ask where she’s from, Lexis takes a deep breath and recites: ” Alaska, Oregon, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, and now Colorado.” Alaska was merely a birthplace, while she considers Oregon to be where she “grew up”. Moving to the Midwest at 12, she spent her teenage years and early twenties bumping around the midwest. By 17, she knew she wanted to move west again; but first she had to get through high school and the benefits of in-state college tuition. While attending Minnesota State University Moorhead, Lexis met her husband, Bear. Lucky for her, he too had the itch to move West. After graduation, Lexis lived abroad in London and traveled Europe; Bear moved to Denver, Colorado. Denver met her warmth and mountain requirements and she decided to call it home.

Today you can find Lexis working in her homemade studio in the Denver home she shares with her husband, Bear, and dog, Remi. She is constantly drawing inspiration from the ever present Rocky mountains and the bits and pieces of life that inspire her.
