Ulster County, New York. I've lived here since 1962, but I grew up in Oklahoma in one of those little towns you come across in America's mid-section, spaced 10 or 15 miles apart with a horizon-full of cows and crops in between. Class of 1955. After all this time I rightly call myself a New Yorker, but nuances of twang underlie my spoken words, and my east-coast wife still finds my attempts at her native Brookynese quite pathetic. I'm such a misfit!
