Well, I guess it all started one Saturday morning when I was watching cartoons and I decided that cartoons were cool. Really cool. Then, as luck would have it, the very next day at my grandparent's house rummaging through the Sunday paper looking for coupons ( I liked to cut them out when I was little, I don't know why), I found the funny pages, and it was awesome. I looked forward to weekends so I could watch cartoons and read comics.
From what I've been told and remember, I've always been marking on paper with something. So, it was only natural that I start to copy these beloved characters. I would find what ever pictures I could, from magazines, the funnies, cereal boxes what have you, and copy the hell out of them.
That's how I learned to draw, and I know I must have been good at it because my Mom told me so. I was told you can actually make money drawing pictures, I found out later that was a lie, but I still love cartoons, and read the funnies when I can, but I don't copy them any more. Instead I try my hand at making original characters, be it my own or a collaboration, and I try my best at making them amusing and funny and likable ( or dark and scary depending on the character of course). I enjoy them myself so I hope everyone else does, but I guess parents don't know when their kids are ugly.
