I'm a little crazy; some in that "goofy next-door neighbour" way, some in that "why does he have that machete?" way.

Flickr

I'm not sure when I joined Flickr, but all accounts point to July 2005. I'd purchased a crappy digital camera for, like $12 at a yard sale and started taking pictures. They sucked. More importantly, the camera could take a total of one picture with flash before completely draining its two AAA batteries. So, really, it was only good outside. This did not stop me from taking a whole host of crappy yard-sale photos -- a few of which made it onto Flickr, with the remainder thankfully trapped on one of two dead hard drives in my basement.

Following the purchase of a mid-end walking-around-with-it-in-your pocket-type camera -- Canon's PowerShot A710IS -- I started taken photos again with renewed vigour. And, apparently, I have a fairly good eye for this sort of thing. Posting to Flickr has allowed me to explore my tenuous skill at photography, as well as talk to some people who really, truly have talent to burn.

I do realize that if I wish to pursue this hobby as a talented amateur, I'm going to have to upgrade my camera. I'm expecting to do by next summer.

Comments and Contacts

Please, please, please comment on my photos. All comments, even negative ones, are gratefully accepted. I know not every photo I post is going to be a homerun, and oftentimes I'm more critical about things than you are. So if there are things you like, let me know so I can keep doing it. If there are things you dislike, let me know so I can change. If there are things you'd rather see, let me know so I can move in new directions.

If I've added you as a contact it likely means you have too many photos I'd like to add as favourites. My favourites are photos that are interesting, that I aspire to, or that make my jaw drop; they're the ones I would rank as "tens".

I try to get through my contact list at once each week, so I can provide some comments and add some favourites. I also try to get through my subscribed groups, but that's a little more sporadic.
