I'm a hobbyist photographer. I've occasionally been published in books and magazines thanks to my blog and people I've met online, but I do this for fun.

For me, 2010 was the year of flash photography. I took a class from Patrick Murphy-Racey, bought a better flash, and started experimenting with an off-camera sync cord, slave flash, and gels. Lots of fun. I almost always have a flash on my camera now, even if it's a small one to get a little fill.

My favorite lens is a 35mm F1.8 (50mm equivalent on crop sensor Nikons). Clear and bright pictures, freezes motion, works well in low light, and gives a shallow depth of field when I want it. Love fast lenses. I've got one F5.6 zoom as the family utility lens. Everything else is fast.

I don't have a favorite subject like landscape or portraits, though you'll see a lot of pictures of my small children. I mostly photograph when I'm somewhere with my kids I have to keep one eye on them. I rarely have time for complicated shots or tripods.
