Alexandra Korolkova
Drag to set position!
I am native Cyrillic type designer, type researcher and type consultant (though I enjoy designing Latin glyphs too).
I studied in Type Design Workshop of Moscow University of Printing Arts in 2003–2006, and also got much information on type design while discussing my projects with experienced colleagues at annual ATypI conferences. Also I'm interested in book design (especially children's book design), calligraphy and different kinds of lettering.
My fonts were awarded at Cyrillic and international type design competitions in 2005 (TypeArt), 2008 (Golden Bee), 2009 (Modern Cyrillic), 2011 (ED Awards and Granshan).
I wrote a book on typography for beginners (in Russian, the title can be translated into English as Live Typography) which was first issued in 2007 and re-issued in 2008 and 2010. Also, I wrote a series of type-related articles for one of the largest Russian design-related web portals, and a series of articles about different stages of designing type for ParaType blog. In 2007–2010 I taught type & typography in several Moscow high schools; in 2008–2013 I spoke at different type conferences on Cyrillic-related subjects.
From 2009, I work for ParaType as chief of type design department; I participated in Public Types of Russian Federation project (which includes PT Sans and PT Serif) as leading designer.
My main goal is to do everything for improving visual and typographical culture in Cyrillic-writing countries, especially in Russia.
