Rabbi Leib Tropper founded Kol Yaakov Torah Center in 1981 to educate and guide baalei teshuva, or Jews who have converted to Orthodox Judaism. Kol Yaakov, prepared baalei teshuva for entry into the mainstream Orthodox community. Rabbi Leib Tropper opened Kol Yaakov in honor of Rabbi Yaakov Kamenetsky zt’l.

 

Rabbi Leib Tropper has many years of experience attending and leading yeshivas. Yeshivas are a major part of Jewish religious education, focusing primarily on the study of the Torah and the Talmud. Rabbi Tropper’s early education began when he was 12, at the Talmudical Yeshiva of Philadelphia; he later attended Telshe Yeshiva in Cleveland. Rabbi Leib Tropper spent five years learning through the Yeshivas Torah Ore in Jerusalem before taking a position as an educator at Ohr Sameach, also in Jerusalem. Subsequently, Rabbi Tropper held the position of Educational Director at Ohr Sameach in New York.

 

In addition to his work through Kol Yaakov Torah Center, Rabbi Leib Tropper has written books on topics relevant to Jewish life and study; he published the first when he was only 21 years old. As a teenager, he wrote two novelized versions of parts of the Talmud that he found particularly engaging. In recent years, Rabbi Leib Tropper has written and published two books focused on Jewish Responsa, rabbinical texts on the topic of Jewish law.

 

Rabbi Leib Tropper grew up in New York City and moved to Israel to join Yeshivas Torah Ore when he was 14. He returned to New York City five years later. Today, Rabbi Tropper offers free classes in Manhattan and Brooklyn on Jewish philosophy and law. Rabbi Leib Tropper is an experienced public speaker; he has lectured at world-renowned universities such as Stanford, Yale, Oxford, and Cambridge.
