I've been taking pictures for a few years now. Started back when I saw Unwound, Slug, and Clikatat Ikatowi at Jabberjaw. I noticed one guy there taking pictures who I only recognized from a band called 100 Watt Halo. Out of the 100 or so people crammed into that tiny place, he was the only one with a camera. It wasn't until a few months (?) later that I saw some photos for sale at Vinyl Solution records in Huntington Beach. The first one I noticed was a photo of Clikatat Ikatowi from that night. Then it was a picture of Unwound. Turns out this guy was Ben Clark and you've seen these photos everywhere as some of his best work. It was so awesome to see those photos and sort of relive that night when music was so fresh and new. Your favorite bands were always coming through on tour and I was at Jabberjaw almost every other night seeing the Make Up, RFTC, Thee Headcoats, Brainiac, and Sleater Kinney. I never had so much fun, and I wanted to learn how to preserve what I had seen. It's always been touch and go for me over all the years but it is now something that I can never stop doing.
