Thanks for stopping by my flickr page! I enjoy chatting with other photographers so please leave a question or comment.
I am passionate about photography for many reasons and feel lucky to have had a late (but not too late!) introduction into this wonderful form of art.
It has been a fun challenge for me to learn not just the mechanics of using my camera but the art of how to tell a great story through an image. Most of my learning has been through trial and error. I spend a lot of time observing what other photographers do well. I read articles and participate in chats groups whose focus are photography. I spend a lot of time reflecting on my images, good or bad, and applying what I have learned to future images.
Photography often gets me out into nature. I enjoy photographing images of the very small wonders, with my macro lens as well as wildlife and landscapes. But even if I return home with no images, it is always time well-spent.
As my skills as a photographer have developed I have been able to apply them to some of my other passions, including citizen science (through sites like iNat and my local Naturalist society), education (I am a teacher-librarian) and gardening.
Another reason I love photography is how it has connected me with others who are curious, excited and passionate about their art. I love the energy of the people I meet through a shared love of photography.
Finally, photography has been so very good for my mental health. Life is full of ups and downs and when faced with the downs, I find I can look to photography for the familiar, for healthy distraction and for a way up again.
If you have taken the time to read this, thank you. I wish you all the best on your photo journey!

I relate to this photographer's philosophy, general methods and think her photostream is nice and varied, but consistently excellent.
Leanne is simply an amazing photographer. I learned of her as we both write for Photzy. I look at her posts here on Flickr and find it actually difficult to NOT favorite everything Leanne shows. Leanne is simply an amazing photographer. I learned of her as we both write for Photzy. I look at her posts here on Flickr and find it actually difficult to NOT favorite everything Leanne shows. Her compositions, technique, and finishing skills are unparalleled, but the thing I most wish I had is her EYE. She sees. She sees the light. She sees the detail and nails it. Her macros are to die for, especially insects in flowers getting nectar (not coffee). Gorgeous stuff, Leanne! 👍👍
