'Lump of Hesitation' is the direct translation of a Japanese phrase, 'Enryo no katamari'. This refers to the awkward moment when two people wait for each other to act first (going through a door, taking the last cake, etc). I can't think of an equivalent phrase in English, and thus hope to popularise 'Lump of Hesitation'.

My technical knowledge of photography doesn't take me very far, but I think I have a decent eye, and one thing I've learned about putting together an accessible Flickr stream is to make each shot completely different to the last. I don't want to dump every picture I take on here and I often delete pictures after a day if I feel they don't add anything to the stream. Flickr is for greatest hits compilations, not box-sets of B-sides, demos and outtakes.

As much as I love comments, and joining groups, if you paste copies of your own pictures in comments on my page, I'll have to delete them. It's really not polite to put your shots on someone else's photo page without being asked to.

I'm an atheist, vegetarian, left-wing non-smoker who nevertheless has a surprising number of vices.
