I like to think of myself as a loyal husband, committed father, and an avid bass angler. I am an associate professor of cultural anthropology and African and African American Studies at Duke University and specialize in the history of anthropology. I love to take pictures and am such an amateur, but it is a great diversion from the real world and its loads of fun.
In some respects, it allows people to frame beauty, color, emotion in an otherwise ugly, hostile, and insane world. Its also a window into an individual's psychology and the world view of other communities. [i.e. whats in my bag] So. . . I guess it is "anthropological." I am also impressed with flickr as an online global community, the vast majority of people are nice, respectful, and kind- -what does that say about photographers worldwide :>
