The Center for Images in Science and Art _ University of Lisbon (CISA_UL) is an image archive platform whose aim is to question the very philosophical, scientific, and artistic nature of image. It was developed within the context of the research project Image in Science and Art of the Center for Philosophy of Sciences of the University of Lisbon.

CISA_UL intends to select, recover and put together a set of scientific and artistic images. The aim is to look for their inner affinities, to investigate their differences, to catch their furtive proximities, to test their divergences, to analyse their resemblances, to uncover their secret dialogues, to experiment their crossings.

CISA_UL works on the basis of two main commitments: to give special attention to the Portuguese production of images in science and art; and to promote interdisciplinary research with the artistic, scientific and philosophical communities.
