I am a social scientist specializing in user research, online communities, and otaku studies. I received my PhD in Science and Technology Studies from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2006. My doctoral research examined the ways in which anime otaku and related subcultures engage and appropriate science and technology. I've worked for Opera Software since 2006, first as a full-time employee and now as a part-time consultant. As of 2011, I am the Online Community Manager for ServiceNow.
