I view myself as an artist, as I have been an Art Educator for more years than I care to count (now retired). I am not a commercial photographer nor do I wish to “sell” images. When I start an image, I work for an audience of one – myself. Therefore, I measure success by means of how clearly I communicate via photography an idea, feeling or mood that is uniquely mine. Its origin may be based on something I have seen, thought of or experienced. I read that Ansel Adams once stated, “We don't make a photograph just with a camera, we bring to the act of photography all the books we have read, the movies we have seen, the music we have heard, the people we have loved.” I would add to his statement, “What we have felt, our mode of thinking, and how we interact with our world.”
