Born in 1976, Tuininga is an up and coming soft pastel artist in seacoast NH. She currently resides in Somersworth NH, and attends informal classes at Brush and Palette Art School in North Hampton NH. Recent exhibitions include the Somersworth Public Library, Brush and Palette Art School, Lucy's Art Emporium (Dover NH) and the Dover Public Library. She will also be displaying atwork at the annual Deerfield Fair in Deerfield, NH.

Her interest in out-of-doors themes can be traced to her childhood in Boscawen, NH. Tuininga studied as a Music Education major at Keene State College. In the winter of 2012 she decided to pursue a different artistic outlet and picked up pastels. Tuininga had dabbled in different mediums as a teenager but found pastels to be the most appealing. The ability to blend colors to create shapes, as well as the art form being so tactile, are what drew her to soft pastels.

Tuininga is constantly looking for new subjects - her artwork varies from landscapes, to architecture, to beautifying nature such as lightning and sunsets. Looking at her work you may even recognize a place or two since her work is primarily from photographs: some she has taken, others have been sent to her by friends or are commission requests.
