Photography is, in the sublime form of art, my means of externalizing the whole multiplicity of sensations and emotions that the world leaves behind when passing through me. Photographer is (in my view) anyone who reaches a higher level, reserved for those who dare to dig deeper into that drive that moves us to transmute all that in images.

 

Henri Cartier-Bresson said: "Photography itself doesn't interest me. I only want to capture a tiny part of reality". And I feel represented by his words, because although I´d say photography interests me, not to the point of being willing to take the necessary steps to know it, breake it down, dominate it and exploit its immense resources.

 

Therefore I´d define myself (although I merely do it in an effort to describe me) as a moments catcher and I´d be prey to delusions of grandeur if I´d dare to call myself "a photographer" (even on hobby grade). At most, I´m an amateur documentor, someone who enjoys collecting and preserving my sensory impressions, with all the rights and wrongs that anyone approaching my pictures might find.

  

And is that I have no aspirations that go beyond the desire to freeze moments, colors, situations, people, even sounds that capture my attention. That stimulate my imagination and I try to hold as much as possible.

 

Given my pleasant journey through photography and considering that my engine is just express myself, I could say that I am not concerned to master the technique, it does not disturb me to be a precarious apprentice of rules relating the composition, framing, rhythm, or any other to be honest (which is evident in my pictures). I try that the little knowledge I´ve gained slips into my images. Absorbed in my humble art space I seek those lines, those rhythms, a harmony ... In my eyes, with little success. But this alone is enough to achieve my little goal of stealing little moments that come to life every time I turn my gaze on the result and re-create new stories. I feel fulfilled "living" photography my way, rustic but organic.

 

As a voracious reader I enjoy greatly the journeys I undertake when a picture tells me a story, either explicitly or emerging from what it provokes in me. I can immerse myself for hours admiring the work of photographers who capture me with the way they see and tell their story. I feel moved by the originality with which the images portray emotions.

 

From them I´ve tried to learn to look. Some professionals and some others who, starting like me for the pure enjoyment of creating images, made me privileged spectator of their evolution, witness of their well-deserved recognition and the subsequent success in their jump to professional photography.

 

I have a strong preference for amateur photographers, especially if they recreate simple scenes of daily life proposed and approached in an innovative way, turning the ordinary into original, extracting the unexpected from the everyday. I admire the ability to find something different in the mundane and turn it into fantasy. From them I have tried to learn to look. Understanding what we look when we´re looking and at least slightly scratch those methods that bring us to transmitting with our image exactly what we intend.

 

Along the way, some of these photographers that started by the pure enjoyment of creating an image, made me a privileged spectator of their evolution, witness of their deserved recognition and subsequent success in the jump to professional photography. Driven by their passion, in 2009 I got behind a Nikon D60, my first "serious camera" (that allowed me to intervene in the configuration and the result of each photograph).

 

Jorge Luis Borges said that in every story there are at least two stories underlying: the one the author is triyng to tell and the one which will be born from the interpretation of the reader. I think this is well worth for photography (and all artistic expression). My photos are so a story written for myself but maybe, although borned without pretensions, may be for you the trigger of a story or a trip, and this is only an unexpected but great satisfaction.

El uso sin permiso es ilegal

  

La fotografía es, en la forma sublime del arte, mi medio de exteriorizar toda la multiplicidad de sensaciones y emociones que el mundo deja al pasar a través de mí. Fotógrafo es (a mi modo de ver) aquel que alcanza un nivel superior, reservado a aquellos que se aventuran a indagar más profundamente dentro de esa pulsión que nos mueve a transmutar todo eso en imagenes.

 

Henri Cartier-Bresson decía: "la fotografía en sí misma no me interesa. Yo quiero sólo capturar una parte ínfima de la realidad". Y me siento representada por sus palabras, porque aunque diría que la fotografía sí me interesa, no me atravesó hasta el punto de estar dispuesta a afrontar lo que requiere conocerla, vulnerarla hasta dominarla.

 

Por ello me definiría (aunque lo hago meramente en un esfuerzo por describirme) como una capturadora de momentos y sería presa de delirios de grandeza si osara llamarme "fotógrafa" (incluso en grado de afición). A lo más, soy una aficionada a documentar, recopilar y conservar mis impresiones sensoriales, con todo lo bello y todo lo espantoso que estéticamente pudiere encontrar quien se acerque a mis fotografías.

 

Y es que carezco de aspiraciones que trasciendan las ansias de congelar momentos, colores, situaciones, personas, incluso sonidos que captan mi atención. Que estimulan mi imaginación y que trato de atesorar tanto como sea posible.

 

Dado mi placentero viaje a través de la fotografía y teniendo en cuenta que mi motor es sólo expresarme, podría decir que no me ocupo en dominar la técnica, no me perturba ser precaria alumna de las reglas relativas a la composición, el encuadre, el ritmo, o a cualquier otra para ser honesta no me ciernen (lo cual se evidencia en mis imágenes). Intento que el poco conocimiento que adquirí se cuele en mis imagenes. Absorbida en el espacio de mi humilde arte busco esas líneas, esos ritmos, una armonía... A mis ojos, con poco éxito. Pero ésto solo basta para mi pequeña meta de robarme momentos que volverán a la vida cada vez que vuelva mi mirada al resultado y también para que recreen nuevas historias. Me doy por satisfecha con "vivir" la fotografía a mi manera, rústica pero orgánica.

 

Como lectora voraz disfruto enormemente los viajes que emprendo cuando una imagen me cuenta una historia, ya sea explícita en ella o emergente de lo que me provoca. Puedo sumergirme por horas admirando el trabajo de fotógrafos que me capturan con su forma de ver y contar.

 

Tengo una fuerte preferencia por los fotógrafos aficionados, especialmente cuando receran escenas simples de la vida diaria propuestas y enfocadas de una manera innovadora, que convierten lo ordinario en original, que extraen lo inesperado de lo cotidiano. Admiro esa capacidad de encontrar en lo mundano algo diferente y transformarlo en fantasía. De ellos he tratado de aprender a mirar. Entender qué miramos cuando miramos y rasguñar aunque sea esos métodos que nos acercan a volcar en la imagen justo aquello que nos proponemos.

 

En el camino, algunos de éstos fotógrafos que se iniciaron por el puro goce de crear una imágen, me hicieron privilegiada espectadora de su evolución, testigo de su merecido reconocimiento y del posterior éxito en el salto a la fotografía profesional.

 

Impulsada por la pasión de éstos, en 2009 empecé a ponerme detrás del lente con una Nikon D60, mi primer "cámara en serio" (en cuanto a que me permitió intervenir en la configuración y el resultado de cada fotografía).

 

Jorge Luis Borges decía que en cada relato subyacen al menos dos historias: la que intenta contar el autor y la que nacerá de la interpretación del lector. Creo que ésto bien vale para la fotografía (y para toda expresión artística). Mis fotos son así una historia escrita para mi misma pero tal vez, aunque nacidas sin pretensiones, puedan ser para ustedes el disparador de alguna historia o de un viaje y ello sólo es una inesperada pero grandiosa satisfacción.
