Langsdale Library Renovation Underway!

With the generous support of President Robert Bogomolny, Provost Wim Wiewel, and the University Administration, the Library has begun Phase I of its first major renovation in 40 years. The renovation will greatly enhance the physical appearance of the Library, substantially improve access to services and resources, and improve the staff’s ability to assist Library users. Among the major changes will be:

24+ new PCs on the first floor of the Library

New carpeting on the first and second floors

Painting the first floor

Moving the reference desk and reference collection from the second to the first floor to provide immediate assistance to students, staff, and faculty

Adding new video/DVD viewing stations on the first floor

Providing an attractive “leisure” area on the second floor

Adding group computer stations on the second floor to facilitate work on group projects needing access to electronic resources

Adding a new electronic classroom on the fourth floor of the Library to enhance our ability to conduct classes and training sessions

We will be providing regular visual updates so you can follow the progress of the

renovation and encourage you to visit us to see the changes as they occur. We anticipate the major part of the renovation to be completed by the beginning of the spring semester when the Library will be holding a week of activities to celebrate our new look. In the meantime, when you visit the Library you will see ongoing changes. Please speak to any staff member about our plans.
