I have recently been uploading to my Flickr photostream five to seven themed photos virtually every day, with each set comprising a mini-gallery to pique viewer interest. I consider color, composition, object shapes, and story as I select the images.
As to my background, I got a lot more interested in both photography and Flickr as I was preparing to go on an African photo safari to Tanzania and Kenya in the Fall of 2007. I often like capturing a real thing and abstracting it, especially with art and architectural subjects. I also like nature subjects, especially flowers and foliage. I sometimes crop and edit my photos a little and prefer natural, clean color and sharp focus. I observe that I prefer vertical format but then sometimes crop them into square format.
I am the only Admin for the Fabulous Foliage group; please take a look and consider posting.

I've known Mary through our involvement with flickr and communicating with each other regarding our respective photos. Mary is from Chicago and actually does quite a bit of commentary on the interesting aspects of Chicago's museums and conservatories. She has also captured the reflections of the many high-rise office buildings with lots of glass in her digital photography. The many abstract designs result from the unseen tensions and imperfections in the glass windows of adjoining or nearby high-rise buildings. She has a sharp eye for spotting buildings with the glass window structures having potential for such abstract results. Another very interesting aspect of Mary's photography is the way she captures the beauty of the many varieties of flowers, plants and foliage found both in the wild and inside the conservatories in Chicago, as well as the creations of local artists, sculptors and glass work specialists that can be found in the museums she visits on a regular basis. She really does provide interesting background information regarding the subject matter of her photography and I feel she could be thought of as an Ambassador for the cultural as well as the botanical sides of her beloved Chicago.
