Taking the photography malarky a bit more seriously this year so got myself a Flickr account and joined Edinburgh Photographic Society. Hoping to improve.

Hubby has been doing a lot of portrait work in 2009/2010 with studio shoots and outdoor shoots and I've been helping with that and sometimes get some shots of my own along the way. Would like to get more of my own. Attending the Glasgow & Edinburgh Scottish Creative Network nights for models, photographers and make-up artists etc regularly so meeting new people there.

Update in 2013 - We've now taught studio lighting for the beginners at Edinburgh Photographic Society for a number of years. Summer 2011, hubby went pro photographer and we got ourself a studio. We now hold a variety of classes at the studio along with model days, workshops (portrait & art nude) and personal tuition and hire the place out. The net result is a lot less holiday photos and a lot more portraits and art nudes. :)

Update in 2021 - We started to enter international salons in 2019 (we'd entered scottish ones for several years) and with reasonable success, got our AFIAP accreditation in Mar 2020 and successfully applied for our EFIAP in 2021. Our print entries for DPAGB (Distinction with the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain) assessment, had to be delayed from Apr 2020 to Jun 2021 due to Covid-19 and ultimately was successful for both of us. I put together an ASSOCIATE panel in Print for the Visual Art category for the Royal Photographic Society which we only joined in 2020, so dived straight in. It was called "Fabric and Flesh' and was also successful. Hubby has been busy and already has his AFIAP, QEP (Qualified European Photographer), ABIPP (Associate of the British Institute of Professional Photographers) and ARPS. Like me he was successful in his EFIAP application and in his DPAGB assessment in Print.

Update in 2023 - I have joined the British Institute of Professional Photography and attained my ABIPP (Associate of the British Institute of Professional Photography) 2022 and followed that up with a European qualification QEP (Qualified European Photographer) in May 2023. I have been on the Council for Edinburgh Photographic Society since Spring 2022 and have now taken on the Projected Digital Image Secretary rôle starting 2023-2024 season as well as now taking on the acting Junior Vice-President trustee position until at least the AGM where it will go to the vote with the members of the Society.

Barrie has also been busy and now has both a FBIPP (Fellowship of the British Institute of Professional Photography or the BIPP as it is now known) and a FSWPP (Fellow of the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers or the Societies as it is also known) as well as now having attained his MQEP (Master Qualified European Photographer with the Federation of European Professional Photographers or FEP). There are only about 3 MQEPs in the UK. He continues to be a Director of the BIPP. He has been taking on some judging, most recently at the Swedish Masters Championship, which was very interesting for me to watch in person.
