We are naturalists with formal training in evolutionary biology, currently employed at Yale University Peabody Museum and the University of Connecticut, respectively. As we travel the remote corners of the world or explore our immediate neighborhood, we enjoy photo-documenting the biodiversity we encounter, and we love the challenge of assigning organisms to species. We believe that such identifications contribute to the still incomplete knowledge of species limits and distributions, and this knowledge is key to effective biodiversity conservation. We are especially enchanted with the tropics and, same as Darwin when first confronted with the tropical biodiversity, we "suffer a pleasant nuisance in not being able to walk a hundred yards without being tied to the spot by some new and wondrous creature.” Our objective here on Flickr is to share the beauty of nature and provide photographic guides to species identification for groups of organisms we know best.
