Kyrani Kanavaros is a portrait photographer based in Vancouver, BC. The seeds of Kyrani’s passion in photography were planted at Sir Winston Churchill high school under the guidance of Mr. Rand but didn’t blossom until 2002 when her dad found an old Minolta SRT manual camera and gave it to her.

Since 2005 Kyrani has been shooting professionally, specializing in families and children. Kyrani has also photographed numerous weddings, special events and corporate photography. Kyrani’s approach to photography is an organic and light-hearted one. Rather than staging people, she connects with them, puts them at ease and allows them to be themselves. She loves to watch her subjects blossom before her and feels privileged to be able to document them.

Using authentic moments, allows her to create images inspired by editorial photographers, and almost always in natural light. Kyrani has an expert eye for capturing fleeting beautiful moments with a contemporary editorial vision. Her careful consideration to location, clothing and props ensure her unique and modern signature in all her photos.

Once clients have been shot by Kyrani, they are clients for life. Kyrani’s greatest satfisfaction in her career comes from documenting momentous occasions throughout her client’s lives, from weddings, to first pregnancies, to capturing the telling emotional moments of childhood and family life.

In 2009 Kyrani was named as one of Vancouver’s Essential Portrait Photographers by Vancouvermom.ca. Her work has been featured in various publications including Urban Baby & Toddler magazine, The West Coast Bridal Guide, and RockandRollbride.com. Most recently, Kyrani’s photographs of Tamara Taggart’s family were featured in the Spring 2011 issue of Real Weddings Magazine.
