My name is Keon White. I've lived in Baltimore city my whole life. I love the sense of community and unified purpose that this city has, but is rarely advertised. I use bright colors and mixed media to push the contrast of light vs. dark, warm vs. cool to tell stories. During my process I enjoy playing with several compositions for the same model or concept. I love to use my images to tell stories. The theme throughout my work is “The Beautiful Struggle". "The Beautiful Struggle" entails battling misconceptions self-worth, expectations, and beauty. I want the models within my images and the viewer to know that they are beautiful. We can affect the world in beautiful ways. The ability to change your perceptions and that of others through hard work, faith, and imagination is yours. My work reflects the resilience and faith of Baltimore residents.
