I used to take alot of pictures with my Pentax K1000 that I got in 1978. Many showed up in my highschool yearbook and newspaper and I've had a few others published in newspapers and journals long ago. About 1982 I put it away and never used it again. Now, I've gotten the bug again...

I was born in Winston-Salem, NC, in 1962. Winston-Salem is about 75 miles west of where some of my ancestors put down NC roots in the mid 1700s. Roughly 90% of all the people in my immediate family tree - both sides - lived in the Piedmont of NC or SW Virginia for most of that time. I suppose I am a Native North Carolinian. There's not so many of us around any more. At least where I live.

I've worked at several radio stations over the years including WKZL in Winston-Salem and curretnly WUNC-FM in Chapel Hill, NC. My first radio gig was at WXYC where I started regualr weekly shifts in September 1980.

I graduated from UNC-CH in 1984 with degrees in English and Philosophy. While at UNC, I enjoyed a summer session at St. Edmund Hall (Teddy Hall) at Oxford, England. I wish I could go back.

I started at WUNC in 1987 and became a full time employee there in 1990. I've worn many hats there: phone screener for the People's Pharmacy, director of The State of Things, classical music director and host, web master, music producer, announcer and so on.

In 1998 (or 9) I started an online SHOUTcast music service that I called That 60s and 70s Station. That changed in 2001 to Deeper Into Music. I wish I had more time to devote to that site. It's fun, but the web site is cluncky and in need of a virtual facelift.

Before May 2007, most of my Flickr shots were either taken with a $12 Vivitar camera I bought at Wal-Mart or my Kodak EasyShare Z760. I wish I had a better camera, too. In May 2007 I acquired a Pentax K100D that I really like!

My famous (somewhat distant) realatives include: Adlai Stevenson (egghead) and McLean Stevenson (M*A*S*H) and Oliver Hardy (of Laurel & Hardy). At least, those of the ones I am at liberty to reveal.
