I am terribly addicted to abandoned properties and the elements left behind. Old homes, stores, motels. . . anything of that nature. I am particularly interested in the period between the 1860's through the 1930's.
A Kansas transplant, I'm originally from Illinois near Chicago, but my heart belongs here. The Flint Hills of Kansas is where I strive to live one day, but until then we make our home in Overland Park and spend a large amount of time at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. I call it a " little bit of country and a little bit of rock and roll." The country is the lake, located on the northern edge of the ozarks. We have a sweet little original log cabin there named, Moonlight Cocktail Cottage. Oh, how I love her.
I was born in the wrong era, and my photography mimics the times I yearn for in a state that I'm tied to with my heart and soul.
My equipment:
Digital Canon Rebel XT
Quantaray 70-300 Lens
Digital Canon Rebel XTi (As of 12/25/08)
Quantaray 18-200 Lens IS
I tend to be more of a purist, meaning the only post-processing is to strengthen the hues and improve the clarity. I prefer realism vs. fantasy in photography and tend to gravitate more towards the documentary aspect rather than the artistic side, though you may see a few black and whites thrown in, mainly due to bad lighting more than anything else. I'm a huge fan of color!
