This is an ego-driven testimonial: what has Kroons done for me? Looking through her stream, from the first to the last, has been for me a masterclass on artistic development, like watching a beautiful flower unfold and bloom. She now has a style uniquely her own, so that her photos are identifiable only from a thumbnail. But her photos have more than style, they have substance, and it is the combination of those two things that makes Kroons a true artist. I have learned a great deal from her, about my work and my self. Not a bad result for a virtual relationship!

I have never done this before, but if one person deserves my first Testimonial it's Ann. From the first moment i saw her pics i was impressed, not only by her kind of pics of that moment, but -- we came rather immediately to a talk -- also in the way she was open to the world in which she finds her images. First she was the explorer, part of her job and she collected her pics partly because of documentary reasons. But with her cam she also explored more and more her own vision on the world. She discovered a new language without words in which she could talk about that world. Was I able to help her in the beginning with some kind of technical matters, soon i could only be surprised and astonished about her steep learning curve and i could only learn from her work. But always she stayed friendly, warm and open to encourage me and to welcome my "images in words", my comments. I admire her development in her work (i think it's really incredible what she has achieved in the period i know her now, less than a year), her uncompromising manner to find her own way, also when they are new and rather unknown. She knows to find some basic kind of archetypes with which she speaks directly to the primaeval images in our mind. In any case in my mind :))) She is a master of HC (high contrast), playful with light and shadow and she speaks in elementary forms (lines, straight and curved ones, circles, squares) and textures which she finds in the real world but knows to abstract to a higher level. But always with a reminiscence of the real world. Ann, i thank you for this great revelation and for the friendship i've found. jos
