I am a very keen Aussie amateur photographer of long standing, born in Brisbane, and now living in Laidley, Queensland, Australia for the last 17 years. My parents were responsible for my love of photography. Everytime I went on a school excursion, or YMCA camp, they thrust the old family Box Brownie in my hands, and a couple of rolls of film.

I have been a Pro tog way back in the past, (1970's-1980's) doing portraits, weddings, and functions, eventually losing the passion for it. As a keen scuba diver for some time, I made a sideways move into Underwater Photography in the early 80's to give me another reason to spend all my money on Scuba Diving, and all it offered! I eventually became a triple certified Master Scuba Instructor with my own diving business on North Stradbroke Island. I had very little time to indulge myself in my photography.

These days, my Photography is a serious pastime and hobby. My aim is to improve my images at each outing, and to inspire others to enjoy the outdoors with their photography. Nature is truly amazing!

Age has been catching up with me, and I have now turned 79. (Aug 2024).

I had open heart surgery in June 2017 to replace the mitral valve, damaged in my yourger years by a bout of rheumatic fever. After being on Warfarin for 12 years, my mitral valve really showed it's weakness on a trip to Japan in January 2017. My photographer buddy thought I was going to die after a 1.6km walk to the Snow Monkeys! On my return to Oz, and a subsequent visit to my cardiologist, he prepared me for open heart surgery which happened not long after.

Recently I have had to have both eyes operated on for macular degeneration and cataracts, (Jan & Feb 2021) so now, I feel fighting fit and can see what I am doing, without having to rely on my friends to find things to photograph, as has been the case for the last year or so. (Mid 2019- early 2021)

*UPDATE* I have since contracted Glaucoma, so I now suffer from failing eyesight once more.

Currently, i'm using the best of Olympus M43 Pro equipment, and loving the portability, weight, cost, and performance of these cameras. Most of these images were taken with Olympus M43 gear, the rest with Canon. Many of the bird images were with Canon, my weapon of choice for 5 years, but I have noticed a marked improvement since the gradual change over to Olympus in 2016-2018. These days, I am very happy with the results I am achieving and am using purely Olympus gear now..
