I met Olivier Bareau through Facebook, I was a bit concerned about which camera settings to use for a photography job I had been commissioned to do. He spent almost an hour online advising me and giving me helpful hints and tips, I was blown away by his kindness in sharing and his genuine love for photography. The job I did turned out well and the pictures were well recieved by the client. That was on the 31 March 2009. From that date, there has been maybe one day that we didnt speak to each other somehow. He came to the UK to visit me in June and once we met, it was like meeting someone you had known all your life :) the 'Liverpool-Nice' air route is now well travelled by the both of us! I have done a couple of informal location shoots with Olivier, one of his strengths is his attention to the ordinary. During shooting it doesn't always make sense, but the realisation of his vision is really exciting to see in the results of his images. Olivier is one of the most humble men I know, he never uses the 'can't be done' way of thinking despite how elaborate your ideas can seem. I am excited to see how far he can push himself and have loved watching him grow over the short space of time I have known him.
